About Brisbane Couples Counselling

Michelle Janssen is a compassionate and highly skilled Brisbane couples therapist dedicated to helping partners rediscover connection, trust, and understanding in their relationships.

With a Master of Counselling, Level 3 training in the Gottman Method, and as a member of PACFA, Michelle brings a wealth of expertise and warmth to her work with couples. She is currently in The Gottman Certification Track, solidifying her commitment to evidence-based and effective therapeutic approaches.

Michelle has facilitated over 20 intensive couples marathon therapy sessions in Brisbane, offering couples a focused and transformative experience. Her specialised training and extensive experience make her uniquely qualified to navigate the challenges that many couples face—from communication breakdowns to betrayal and crisis.

What sets Michelle apart is her unwavering dedication to helping Brisbane couples have better conversations. She understands that her role is not to decide who is right or wrong, but to create a safe space where both partners feel heard and valued. Through her guidance, couples learn to hear each other’s perspectives, rebuild trust, and create solutions that work for them.

Having been on the other side of the therapy couch herself, she knows the vulnerability that comes with seeking help and the importance of working with someone who truly understands and respects both partners. Her approachable and relatable style fosters trust and openness, ensuring clients feel supported every step of the way.

The Gottman Method

The Gottman Method is considered the gold standard in marriage counselling. It's based on decades of research into what makes relationships work.

Drs. John and Julie Gottman have studied thousands of couples, identifying patterns that predict relationship success or failure. Using their findings, they created a structured approach focused on communication, conflict resolution, and fostering emotional connection.
